The gap over the top

To hang wreath on storm door, open it and look at the gap over the top. A hanger that fits a wood door is often too thick here, and the door will not close. Use a thin hanger, and only while the wreath stays light enough for it.

Close it before the greens go on

Slide the thin hanger over the top edge and center it. Close the door. If it rubs, catches, or will not latch, take the hanger off. Do not add the wreath yet.

When the door still latches, put the wreath on the outside hook. Open and close it again. The greens need to clear the handle, the latch, and the frame. Hanging wreath on storm door still has to leave that latch clear, because this door opens all day.

When there is no gap

Some of these doors have almost no space at the top. A ribbon over the frame can hold a light wreath if the door still opens. An outdoor hook is a last try on a smooth metal rail, and only when the package weight covers the wreath. Skip adhesive on loose paint.

When the panel is glass

A magnet pair is a different job. Those steps are on hanging wreath on glass door. If the magnets slip, the pane is too thick. Move the wreath to the wood or metal door behind the storm door.

After it is up

In wind, run clear fishing line from the lower greens to the hook so the wreath does not spin. A thin hanger is enough to show door wreaths on a storm door when the door still latches and the wreath stays light.
