Wreaths for Other Holidays

Rockdale Wreaths makes a fresh wreath of balsam fir on our Maine farm for Christmas. These notes are for the other holidays, the ones we do not cut a wreath for yet.

Any of those wreaths would start with a base, then a color. A blueberry plant base is a ring of canes from the blueberry plants on the farm. A stick base is a ring of sticks, so the wood shows. Ribbon, berries, and picks carry the color.

What each holiday would look like

Fall

From late September into November, a fall wreath would hang on the door. Use the stick base when the wood should show, or the blueberry plant base for a rougher ring. Dried leaves, a pinecone, and a plain ribbon. The classic red bow stays on the Christmas wreath. Balsam stays in the field until that cut.

Rust, gold, and orange

Halloween

Bare sticks fit Halloween, so that wreath would be on the stick base. A few dark berries. Pick the blueberry plant base when the ring should look wilder. Stop at those colors.

Black and orange

Easter

Spring wants a lighter door. An Easter wreath would use a thinner stick base or the blueberry canes. A small bow. A few early greens if the farm had them. It would not be the Christmas wreath with the colors swapped.

Yellow, white, and soft green
