Rockdale Forest FAQ

Answers to common questions about registration, groves, public dedications, search, and access.

Basics

What is Rockdale Forest?

Rockdale Forest is a real farm paired with a digital story experience.

Trees are planted on the farm, and recipients may be able to register, add a dedication, choose a grove, and share their story online.

Is this a real tree?

Yes. Trees are planted on the Rockdale Forest farm as part of the forest’s ongoing growth.

Planting happens on an operations and seasonal schedule, so timing may not always match the exact moment an order is placed.

Forest Marker Code

What is a Forest Marker code?

A Forest Marker code is the identifier assigned to a tree or registration record in the system.

You do not choose this code. It is assigned automatically with the order or registration flow.

Where do I find my code?

Your code may appear in your confirmation email, recipient email, or registration link.

What does the last letter in the code mean?

Depending on the current system setup, the last letter may indicate tree type.

  • B may indicate balsam
  • W may indicate white pine

Registration & Access

Why do I need to register?

Registration connects you to your tree experience.

You may need to register before choosing a grove, editing a dedication, managing invites, or accessing private pages.

My link doesn’t work. What should I do?

Try reopening the original email on the same device and browser first.

  • Check whether the link was copied correctly
  • Try a different browser if needed
  • Use your Forest Marker code if the system supports code lookup
  • Contact support if you no longer have access to the email or token
What if I lost my code or access email?

If you no longer have your original email or code, support may need to help verify your order and restore access.

Groves

What is a grove?

A grove is a named area within the Rockdale Forest story experience.

It helps organize trees by theme, area, or narrative setting.

How do I choose a grove?

If grove selection is enabled for your experience, you can choose one after registration.

This may be shown as a list or an illustrated map.

Does the grove map show the exact GPS location of my tree?

No. The grove map is illustrative unless stated otherwise.

It is meant to show the story area or general placement, not exact coordinates.

Pages & Visibility

What is the difference between the Tree Hub and the public dedication page?

The tree hub (your Forest Marker page) is for the recipient who registered—QR code, settings, sending invitations, and links. It is not meant for invited guests to “log in” to the hub.

Invited guests are typically sent to the public dedication page to view the story and, when enabled, sign the guest book—same URL pattern as the share link, not the hub.

The public dedication page is the shareable view when your tree is listed publicly; if you have not opted into public sharing, visitors may see a private notice instead of the full page.

Who can see my dedication?

That depends on your visibility choices and whether you have opted to share your tree on the browseable Public Forest.

  • You can share by link with people you choose.
  • Trees that are shared for the Public Forest can appear there; search may still surface names or codes—ask support if something looks wrong.

Search

How do I search for a tree?

You may be able to search by name or Forest Marker code, depending on the current page and feature settings.

Why can’t I find a tree in search?

Try the exact Forest Marker code, check spelling of the honored name, or confirm the tree has been registered. Very new records can take a moment to appear.

If you still have no luck, contact support with your order or code.

Messages in the Forest & guest book

What is Messages in the Forest?

Messages in the Forest is our experience for exploring dedications and stories shared with the community—browse from the Messages entry on Rockdale Forest. It is separate from your personal tree hub.

Optional sharing to the browseable Public Forest is a choice when you are ready to let your story be discovered there.

What is the guest book?

On each public dedication page, the section is labeled Guest book (same wording as our Location & Marker policy). Invited guests use the link from their invitation to leave a message there when that feature is on.

That is different from Messages in the Forest, which is for browsing shared stories across the forest.

Gifts & Buying

Can I buy this for someone else?

Yes. The buyer and the recipient can be different people.

The buyer may arrange the gift, and the recipient may later register or personalize the experience depending on system rules.

What is the difference between the buyer and the recipient?

The buyer is the person who makes the purchase.

The recipient is the person who receives access to the tree experience, dedication, or invitation flow.

Troubleshooting

Why does the site look different or seem incomplete?

The site may be updating, or a feature may be temporarily disabled.

If something appears missing, try refreshing or return later. If the issue continues, contact support.

Why is the map not working well on mobile?

Some interactive map features may behave differently on smaller screens or mobile browsers.

If needed, try rotating your screen, using a larger device, or switching browsers.
